Everything you see here is animal life. It is often something hard to grasp when viewing underwater photographs, something foreign to so many terrestrial dwellers. Yet, this vibrant encrusting sponge is very much alive and an example of the many exotic creatures one finds while SCUBA diving. My affection for patterns in nature drew me to this small macro scene, where the sponge and coral are living in a symbiotic relationship.
